SERVPRO of Marlboro Donates Six Months of Food to Operation Delta Dog!

Here at SERVPRO of Marlboro/Concord, we feel it is important for our team to get "involved right here in our community." Chris St.Onge, the general manager of our team, stands in front of one of our signature green trucks, with a pallet of dog food packed and ready to go. We hope to surprise and do something special for Operation Delta Dog.

Operation Delta Dog's logo, a dog tag with a dog embossed on it, tells the story of their organization, as well as their goals. We are honored to work with "volunteers, who provide service animals for those veterans who have served our nation. We want to help them with the amazing work they are doing, so we have teamed up to form a partnership.”  Chris stands proudly in front of the food SERVPRO is donating, along with some disinfecting wipes, to help them keep their workplace safe. There was so much food that it took a forklift to get it on our truck! We are excited to help them "serve people who have served." It's in our name, SERVPRO.

Not only does Operation Delta Dog do amazing work with veterans, but they specialize in rescuing dogs "from around the country" according to the organization’s leader, Charlotte Troddyn. Once rescued, the dogs are put through special training, designed to give them all the skills they need to become service animals.

The great thing about this organization is that they are not dealing with puppy mills or other unethical breeding. Furthermore, all dogs are welcome, from mutts to retrievers. Operation Delta Dog knows that all dogs can be trained for excellence. Troddyn explains that some of the conditions the service dogs can assist with include trauma from injuries, PTSD, and victims of sexual abuse. You can recognize a Delta Dog by its signature blue vest and logo.

The training to prepare these special pups for their veteran adopters is significant. It can take as long as a year and is quite expensive, costing about $25,000.  It is a non-profit organization, funded entirely by donations. The more donations they receive the more homeless dogs they can rescue and place with a deserving veteran. It you are willing to help make a difference and donate to this awesome cause, go to the donate page of the Operation Delta Dog website.
